In the National League West, it is the Los Angeles Dodgers that are leading the way. The team has been one of the most consistent throughout the season and will look to continue their solid play when they welcome their division rival San Diego Padres to Dodger Stadium. The Padres will send 27-year-old Cuban pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne (3-5) to the mound to take on 34-year-old Roberto Hernandez (8-10).

Outside of San Diego, the name Despaigne isn’t well-known. The Cuban-defector has a 3.06 ERA this season in 13 starts and will hope to get his first win since a shutdown performance against the Colorado Rockies on Aug. 12. He has made 1 start against the Dodgers and has allowed 7 hits in 24 at-bats. He suffered the loss in that game, but it was only 2-1. That may be the best performance he has had all season, as he allowed just 7 hits and had 7 strikeouts without a walk.

Los Angeles will be looking to get into the playoffs as the favorite to win it all and can help pad their numbers in this game against the Padres. Hernandez was previously with the Philadelphia Phillies this season, but will be making his 6th start with the Dodgers. He is 2-2 since joining the team, but has struggled a bit, as he is sporting a 4.61 ERA in 27.1 innings. In his career against the current San Diego players, he has allowed 22 hits in 64 at-bats with 5 home runs allowed.
