Right-hander Ian Kennedy (10-12) will get to make the start for the San Diego Padres when they face Dan Haren (12-10) and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

Ian Kennedy gave up four runs in 5.1 innings of work against the Arizona Diamondbacks last week and ended up taking the loss. He allowed 10 base hits in that outing and struck out two batters while walking two. Kennedy has struck out 9.4 batters per nine innings this year and he now has a 3.75 ERA on the season.

Dodgers veteran outfielder Andre Ethier has 11 hits in 34 at-bats against Kennedy with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez is just 3-for-21 against him in his career with two walks and two strikeouts.

Last Friday, Dan Haren pitched six solid innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks and was able to win his 12 games of the season. He gave up just one run on four hits in that game while striking out six batters and walking one. The right-hander currently has a 4.17 ERA on the year and he has only walked 1.9 batters per nine innings.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has 13 hits in 47 at-bats against Haren in his career with four doubles, three home runs and nine RBI. Will Venable is 2-for-17 against him with no walks and seven strikeouts.
