On Wednesday, Eric Stults (5-13) will attempt to move to 3-0 in August when he and the San Diego Padres face off against Roberto Hernandez (7-8) and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Last Thursday, Eric Stults pitched seven good innings against the St. Louis Cardinals on the road, but all he got out of that start was a no decision. In that game, he allowed two runs on four base hits while walking one batter and striking out one. Stults now has a 4.64 ERA on the season and he has given up 145 hits in 130 innings of work.

Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is just 5-for-20 against Stults in his career, but he has hit two home runs off of him. Outfielder Andre Ethier is 2-for-15 against Stults with a home run and two strikeouts.

Roberto Hernandez made his second start as a member of the Dodgers last week and was able to beat the Atlanta Braves on the road. He went six innings in that start and allowed just one run on three hits while walking four batters and striking out five. He now has a 3.72 ERA on the year and has only given up 114 hits in 133 innings of work.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has two hits in five at-bats against Hernandez with a double and an RBI. Will Venable is 0-for-2 against him with a walk.
