24-year-old Jesse Hahn will attempt to win his fifth game in seven starts for the San Diego Padres on Friday night when he goes up against Dan Haren and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Sunday, rookie Jesse Hahn had a pretty good outing against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, but he ended up taking the loss. He pitched seven innings in that game and gave up three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out five. Through six starts, Hahn is 4-2 with a 2.34 ERA and he has only given up two home runs so far.

The Dodgers will be facing Hahn for the first time on Friday night. He has been able to hold left-handed hitters to just a .162 batting average this year.

Veteran Dan Haren had his worst start of the season last Saturday when he surrendered eight earned runs to the Colorado Rockies and came away with his fifth loss of the year. He pitched 5.1 innings in that game and allowed 10 hits while striking out eight and walking zero. Haren is now 8-5 on the season with a 4.06 ERA and he has only struck out 6.4 batters per nine innings, which is well below is career strikeout rate.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has 12 hits in his 42 at-bats against Haren with four doubles, three home runs and nine strikeouts.
