San Diego Padres rookie Odrisamer Despaigne will have a tough time keeping his perfect record intact because he will be going up against reigning Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.

Odrisamer Despaigne wasn't able to win his third consecutive game last Friday against the San Francisco Giants, but he certainly pitched well enough to deserve it. He went six innings in that game and gave up just one earned run on two hits while striking out two batters and walking four. Through three starts, Despaigne has a 2-0 record with a 0.92 ERA and he has only given up 11 hits in 19.2 innings.

Despaigne will be going up against the Dodgers' tough lineup for the first time on Thursday.

Clayton Kershaw extended his impressive winning streak to seven games last Thursday by defeating the Colorado Rockies on the road. He pitched eight scoreless innings in that game and gave up just two hits while walking one hitter and striking out eight. On the year, Kershaw has a 10-2 record with a sublime 1.85 ERA and he has struck out 115 batters in 87.1 innings.

Chris Denorfia will probably find himself in the Padres lineup on Thursday because he is 9-for-29 against Kershaw with two doubles, three home runs and four RBI.
