San Diego Padres fireballer Andrew Cashner will get the start on Sunday and will face Juan Nicasio and the Colorado Rockies.

Andrew Cashner ended up with a no decision in his start against the Cincinnati Reds last week despite pitching seven strong innings in the game. He gave up just one earned run on Seven hits in that outing while walking one and striking out six. Cashner is only getting 2.08 runs per start from his offense, which is the main reason why he has just a 2-5 record despite having an excellent 2.35 ERA.

Cashner is one pitcher that outfielder Carlos Gonzalez hasn't figured out yet, going just 4-for-16 against him with no extra-base hits and four strikeouts. Nolan Arenado has hit .308 against the big right-hander with two doubles.

Juan Nicasio lost for the second time this season when he was beaten by the Cincinnati Reds last Sunday. He pitched six innings against the Reds and gave up two earned runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three. He is now 4-2 on the year with a 3.77 ERA, but he is only striking out six batters per nine innings.

Third baseman Chase Headley is 6-for-15 against Nicasio in his career with two home runs and three RBI. Chris Denorfia has struggled against him by getting just two hits in 12 at-bats with three strikeouts.
