On Friday night, Eric Stults (6-15) will try to end his two-game losing streak when he and the San Diego Padres go up against rookie left-hander Tyler Matzek (4-9) and the Colorado Rockies.

Eric Stults lost his league-leading 15th game on Monday when he was beaten by the Los Angeles Dodgers at home. He pitched six innings in that start and allowed two runs on five base hits while striking out four batters and walking five. Stults now has a 4.56 ERA on the year and has given up 163 hits in 146 innings.

Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon has five hits in 17 at-bats against Stults in his career with a double, a home run and two RBI. Catcher DJ LeMahieu is 7-for-18 against him with a double, a triple and an RBI.

On Sunday, Tyler Matzek was able to win his second game in a row when he beat the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that outing and gave up just three hits while striking out four batters and walking three. Matzek has only given up nine home runs in 91 innings this season and now has a 4.75 ERA.

Padres catcher Rene Rivera is 3-for-5 against Matzek in his career with a double and two RBI. First baseman Tommy Medica is 1-for-6 against him with a double and two strikeouts.
