Ian Kennedy will be getting the start for the San Diego Padres on Friday night and will going up against left-hander John Danks and the Chicago White Sox.

Ian Kennedy won for the first time since late April on Sunday when he pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Chicago Cubs. He allowed just two hits in that start and struck out six while walking two. Kennedy now has a 3.59 ERA on the year and has struck out 72 hitters in 67.2 innings of work. He's also given up just six home runs this season.

White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton has hit a triple against Kennedy, but that is the only hit he has against him in six at-bats. Adam Dunn is 3-for-5 against the right-hander with a double, two home runs and three RBI.

John Danks was able to pitch eight scoreless innings against the New York Yankees last Saturday, but he ended up with a no decision in a game the White Sox eventually lost 4-3. He gave up only three hits in that outing and struck out four while walking no one for the first time this season. It was a good bounce-back game for Danks, who now has a 4.90 ERA on the year.

Seth Smith is no hits against Danks in their three matchups and has struck out two times. Chris Denorfia is 1-for-3 against him.
