On Sunday, rookie starter Odrisamer Despaigne (3-6) will try to pick up his first win in over a month when the San Diego Padres go up against Trevor Cahill (3-11) and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Last Monday, Odrisamer Despaigne pitched 4.1 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road and ended up taking the loss. He gave up seven runs (six earned) on eight base hits in that game while walking three batters and striking out three. Despaigne now has a 3.55 ERA through 14 starts and he has only given up six home runs in 83.2 innings.

Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is 3-for-8 against Despaigne in his career with a home run and four RBI. Cliff Pennington has one hit in six at-bats against him with no walks and a strikeout.

Trevor Cahill lost his third start in a row last week when he was beaten by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road. He pitched 5.2 innings in that outing and gave up three runs on two hits while walking four batters and striking out four. On the year, Cahill now has a 5.23 ERA and he has struck out 87 batters in 96.1 innings.

Padres shortstop Alexi Amarista is 7-for-16 against Cahill in his career with a double and a home run.
