Left-hander Eric Stults (6-16) will try to snap his three-game losing streak when the San Diego Padres face off against Vidal Nuno (0-5) and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Eric Stults picked up his league-worst 16th loss last Friday when he was beaten by the Colorado Rockies on the road. The left-hander pitched 6.1 innings in that outing and gave up three runs on eight base hits while walking one batter and striking out four. Stults has given up 10.1 hits per nine innings this season and now has a 4.55 ERA.

Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is 6-for-22 against Stults in his career with four doubles, two home runs and eight RBI. Veteran outfielder Cody Ross is just 3-for-19 against him with a home run and three strikeouts.

Lefty Vidal Nuno lost his second consecutive start last week when he was beaten by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road. He did pitch pretty well in that game, though, by going seven innings and giving up just two runs on seven hits while walking two batters and striking out five. Nuno has struck out 114 batters in 146.1 innings this season and currently has a 4.37 ERA.

Earlier this season, Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin went 2-for-3 against Nuno with no walks and no strikeouts. None of the Padres have faced the left-hander more than three times.
