Right-hander Ian Kennedy (9-11) will be making the start for the San Diego Padres when they go up against rookie Chase Anderson (7-5) and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Last Tuesday, Ian Kennedy went five innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road and ended up taking the loss. He gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits in that start while walking two batters and striking out five. Kennedy now has a 3.72 ERA on the season and he has struck out 168 batters in 157.1 innings of work.

Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero has four hits in eight at-bats against Kennedy with a double and a solo home run. Infielder Jordan Pacheco is 5-for-16 against him with a double and two RBI.

Chase Anderson had by far his worst start last week against the Washington Nationals and suffered his fifth loss of the year. He could only make it through two innings in that game and gave up six runs on six hits while walking three batters and striking out two. That lost raised Anderson's ERA to 3.71 on the year, but he has struck out 76 hitters in 87.1 innings.
