On Sunday night, right-hander Edinson Volquez (10-7) will be going for his third win in a row when the Pittsburgh Pirates go up against Doug Fister (12-3) and the Washington Nationals.

Edinson Volquez pitched six innings against the Detroit Tigers in his last start and ended up picking up his 10th win of the season. He pitched six innings in that start and allowed two runs on five base hits while walking two and striking out five. He has only given up 126 hits in 139.2 innings this year and now has a 3.67 ERA .

Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche has six hits in 16 at-bats against Volquez with two doubles, a home run and four RBI. Shortstop Ian Desmond is just 1-for-8 against him with no walks and three strikeouts.

Right-hander Doug Fister won his second straight game on Tuesday when he defeated the New York Mets on the road. He pitched seven shutout innings in that game and gave up just seven hits and struck out three while walking no one. He now has an excellent 2.34 ERA on the season and has only walked one batter per nine innings.

Pirates first baseman Neil Walker is 4-for-8 against against Fister in his career with an RBI and two strikeouts.
