Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Edinson Volquez will try to bounce back from his worst start of the season on Monday night when he faces off against Alex Cobb and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Edinson Volquez struggled mightily on the mound against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday and ended up picking up his sixth loss of the year. He went just 2.1 innings in that start and allowed a season-high eight runs on six hits while striking out just two and walking three. His record is now 4-6 on the season and his strikeout rate is the lowest it has been since way back in 2006.

26-year-old starter Alex Cobb pitched very well against the Baltimore Orioles in his last start, but he still came away with his fifth loss of the season after not getting any run support from his offense. He went seven innings in that outing and allowed just one unearned run on four hits while walking four and striking out six. Cobb is 2-6 through nine starts, but he does have a solid 3.48 ERA.

Rays first baseman Gaby Sanchez has two hits in five at-bats against Cobb with one double and a strikeout.
