Adam Wainwright will be going for his fifth win of the season when the St. Louis Cardinals go up against Edinson Volquez and the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.

Adam Wainwright continued to be one of the hottest pitchers in the league by picking up his third straight win by beating the New York Mets last week. He went seven shutout innings in that game and gave up just four hits while striking out three and walking none. He has a spectacular 1.46 ERA through 37 innings now and is giving up just 5.1 hits per nine innings.

Wainwright does not like facing Pittsburgh star Andrew McCutchen, who is hitting .419 against him with a home run, a triple and five doubles.

Edinson Volquez continued his solid start to the season for his new team last Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds, but he ended up taking his first loss of the season in that outing. He went seven strong innings and gave up just two runs on five hits in the loss, so it's obvious he didn't get much help from his offense. He has a great 1.93 ERA on the year and has walked just five batters in 28 innings.

Mark Ellis will probably be in the lineup when the Cardinals face Volquez on Sunday because he is 7-for-22 against him with a home run and a double. Yadier Molina is one of the better hitters in the league, but he has just three hits in 23 at-bats against Volquez.
