On Tuesday night, Jeff Locke (6-3) will be going for his third win in a row when he and the Pittsburgh Pirates take on Adam Wainwright (15-9) and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Last Wednesday, Jeff Locke had a very strong start against the St. Louis Cardinals and ended up picking up the win. He pitched 7.1 innings in that game and gave up just one run on six base hits while striking out three batters and walking two. Locke now has a 3.51 ERA on the ear and has given up just 101 hits in 105 innings.

Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday has five hits in his 11 at-bats against Locke with a home run and four RBI. Matt Carpenter is 0-for-7 against him in his career with two walks and two strikeouts.

Adam Wainwright lost his second straight game last week when he was beaten by the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. He went six innings in that game and gave up three runs on eight hits while striking out five hitters and walking one. Wainwright has only given up seven home runs on 188 innings of work this season and now has a 2.59 ERA.

Pirates All-Star Andrew McCutchen is 13-for-40 against Wainwright in his career with five doubles, a triple and a home run. Pedro Alvarez is just 6-for-27 against him with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
