On Monday night, big right-hander Charlie Morton will go for his sixth win of the year when he and the Pittsburgh Pirates face 11-game winner Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Charlie Morton pitched a solid game against the Arizona Diamondbacks last Wednesday and he picked up his fifth win of the season. Morton pitched six innings in that start and allowed just one earned run on five hits while walking three batters and striking out five. Morton only has a 5-9 record, but he also has a very good 3.30 ERA.

Pirates first baseman Allen Craig has 11 hits in his 21 at-bats against Morton with two walks, two doubles and three RBI. Veteran Matt Holliday is 8-for-28 against him with a double, a home run and five RBI.

Adam Wainwright had yet another strong start last week against the San Francisco Giants and was able to win his 11th game. He got through 7.2 innings in that game and gave up no runs on four hits while walking two and striking out one. His ERA is now down to a minuscule 1.89 and he has only given up four home runs in 124 innings this season.

Pirates All-Star Andrew McCutchen has 13 hits against Wainwright in 34 at-bats with five doubles, a triple and a home run. First baseman Ike Davis is just 2-for-13 against him with six strikeouts.
