NL loss leader Charlie Morton will be on the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday and will be going up against Tim Stauffer and the San Diego Padres.

Charlie Morton lost his league-worst seventh game last week against the New York Mets, but he only allowed two earned runs in that game. He went 5.1 innings against the Mets and walked four while striking out four. Morton has been one of the unluckiest pitchers in the majors this season because he has a solid 3.29 ERA despite owning a terrible 1-7 record.

Padres third baseman Chase Headley has faced Morton nine times in his career and is 3-for-7 with two walks. Seth Smith is 3-for-6 against him and is the only Padres who has hit a home run off of him.

Tim Stauffer could only make it a third of an innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks last Wednesday and took his first loss of the season. He allowed seven earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out one in that quick outing. Through 24 innings this season, Stauffer has a 4.50 ERA and has struck out 24 batters.

Veteran Clint Barmes has gone up against Stauffer nine times so far in his career and has three hits, including one double. Catcher Russell Martin is 2-for-7 against him with a walk and an RBI.
