On Tuesday night, Gerrit Cole will be going for his sixth win of the season when the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the San Diego Padres, who are expected to give Jesse Hahn his first Major League start.

23-year-old Gerrit Cole won his fifth game of the season last week by pitching 6.1 innings and giving up three runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He allowed six hits in that outing and walked two while striking out three. Cole has a higher strikeout rate this season than he did last year, but he is also walking more and giving up more hits.

No one on the Padres has been able to hit a home run off of Cole yet, but Chris Denorfia has shown that he can hit the young starter by going 3-for-5 with a double and a walk against him. Yonder Alonso is 2-for-3 against him in his career with two singles and two RBI.

Big right-hander Jesse Hahn has made seven starts and 10 total appearances in Double-A for the Padres this season. He has a 2-1 record this season in the minors and struck out 28 batters in 32.2 innings of work. The most impressive start for Hahn this season has been his ability to keep the ball in the ballpark by not giving up a single home run in any of his 10 appearances.
