The Pittsburgh Pirates will travel to Miller Park to face the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday in the final meeting of a three game series. The Pirates will send Wandy Rodriguez to the hill to face Yovani Gallardo.

This will be Rodriquez’s first start since April 19 because he’s coming off a knee injury. On the season, Rodriguez is 0-2 with a 7.65 ERA. He struggled in his last rehab start in which he gave up seven earned runs over 5.1 innings for Double A Altoona. His health looks to be ok though so he’ll look to get back on track when he faces the Brewers. It won’t be an easy task as the Brewers are playing great ball and leading their division.

Current Milwaukee hitters are .310 when facing Rodriguez. He’ll have to be careful when facing Ryan Braun who is 18-for-49 with four home runs and 11 RBIs. Aramis Ramirez has also played well against Rodriguez going 22-for-59 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Carlos Gomez hasn’t fared as well going just 5-for-37 with 15 strikeouts.

Gallardo is coming off his second loss on the season in which he pitched 5.2 innings giving up four earned runs on five hits. He was able to strikeout seven batters but it wasn’t enough for the win. The loss put Gallardo’s record at 2-2 with a 2.92 record. Gallardo started the season off great getting two straight wins with a total of 12.2 innings pitched and no earned runs, however, he’s regressed a bit up to this point. He’ll be looking to get back in the win column when facing the Pirates.

Current Pittsburgh hitters are batting .209 versus Gallardo with four home runs and 20 RBIs over 47 hits. Andrew McCutchen is hitting .326 with three home runs and seven RBIs against Gallardo in his career.
