Right-hander Vance Worley (5-1) will try to extend his undefeated streak to seven games when the Pittsburgh Pirates take on rookie Robbie Ray (1-1) and the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

Vance Worley was able to win his third game in four starts last Friday when he defeated the San Diego Padres at home. He pitched seven innings in that outing and gave up just one run on five hits while walking one batter and striking out seven. He now has an excellent 2.30 ERA on the year and has only given up four home runs in 62.2 innings.

Tigers superstar Miguel Cabrera has hit a home run off of Worley, but he is just 1-for-6 overall against him. Outfielder Torii Hunter is 3-for-6 against Worley with two doubles and an RBI.

22-year-old Robbie Ray last made a start for the Tigers back on May 22, when he gave up seven runs in just 3.1 innings and took the loss. In the minors this season, Ray has made 18 starts and has a 7-5 record. He has given up 9.5 hits per nine innings in Triple-A, while striking out 6.6 batters per nine innings.

All of the Pirates' hitters will be getting their first chance to go up against Ray on Wednesday night. So far this year, Ray has held left-handed hitters to a .267 batting average, but right-handed batters are hitting .326 against him with an .827 OPS.
