Oriole Park at Camden Yards will be the home Wednesday night to an interleague game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles. The Pirates will turn to rookie Brandon Cumpton for the start while the Orioles will turn to veteran Bud Norris.

Cumpton made 6 starts a year ago for the Pirates and pitched extremely well for them. Last week, he made his first start of the 2014 season and he picked up right where he left off a year ago. In 7 innings, he allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits and 1 walk with 5 strikeouts. The former Georgia Tech star has faced just 1 player on the current Baltimore roster, allowing 1 hit in 3 at-bats to Delmon Young.

While Cumpton is lacking experience at the professional level, the 29-year-old Norris does not suffer from the same problem. Norris, the former ace for the Houston Astros, hasn’t pitched exceptionally well this season but has thrown a couple of quality starts. In 24 1/3 innings over the course of his first 4 starts, he has allowed 12 earned runs on 24 hits with 17 strikeouts and 6 walks. He is suffering from a hamstring injury now, but will look to continue to pitch well against the Pirates. In 110 at-bats, the Pirates have just 30 hits and 2 home runs off Norris.
