Thursday afternoon, Kyle Kendrick gets the call for the Philadelphia Phillies as they face Doug Fister and the Washington Nationals.  Kendrick makes his 12th start as Fister makes his 6th. 

Kyle Kendrick pitched to a no-decision in his last outing and that left his record at 1 – 5 with a 4.21 ERA.  In his last start, Kendrick gave up 4 runs on 8 hits (including a home run) in 6 innings of work.  He walked 2 and struck out 5.  Kendrick seems on track for another losing season like last year when he went 10 – 13 with a 4.70 ERA in 30 starts.

In 2013, Kendrick was 1 - 3 with a 5.40 ERA in 5 starts against the Nationals.  Kendrick might want to pitch around Washington’s Wilson Ramos.  Ramos is 6 for 11 with 2 homers and 3 RBIs against the right-hander. 

Doug Fister picked up his 3rd straight win in his last start and that improved his record to 3 – 1 with a 3.34 ERA.  The last time out, Fister allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings of work.  He walked 1 and struck out 6.  Fister is on a roll but it still might be hard to match last season’s record of 14 – 9 with an ERA of 3.67 in 32 starts and a relief appearance for the Detroit Tigers. 

In 2013, Fister won his only start against the Phillies after allowing a run on3 hits in 8 innings. Fister has only seen most of the Phillies a few times but Ben Revere has 15 at-bats against Fister.  Revere is batting .400 against the right-hander.
