On Thursday night, Cliff Lee (4-5) will try to even up his record when he and the Philadelphia Phillies face Gio Gonzalez (6-6) and the Washington Nationals.

Cliff Lee could only make it through five innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks and ended up with a no decision. He allowed three runs on nine hits in that start and walked two batters while striking out four. Only the year, Lee now has a 3.78 ERA and he has given up 99 hits in his 78.2 innings on the mound.

Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth has 11 hits in his 30 at-bats against Lee with a double, a triple, two home runs and four RBI. First baseman Adam LaRoche is just 6-for-25 against him with no walks and six strikeouts.

Left-hander Gio Gonzalez gave up just one run in seven innings against the Cincinnati Reds last Saturday, but he ended up taking the loss after his offense was shut out in the game. Gonzalez allowed just four hits in that outing and struck out eight batters while walking two. He has a 3.56 ERA this season and he has only given up 76 hits in 93.2 innings of work.

Phillies outfielder Ben Revere is 5-for-13 against Gonzalez in his career with a triple and an RBI, while veteran Marlon Byrd only has three hits in his 13 at-bats versus the left-hander with two walks and five strikeouts.
