Veteran right-hander Kyle Kendrick will be going for his third consecutive win for the Philadelphia Phillies when he faces off against 22-year-old Carlos Martinez and the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

Kyle Kendrick did well in his start against the Atlanta Braves on the road on Tuesday night and came away with his third win of the season. He went seven innings in that start and allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out six and walking only one. Kendrick now has a 3-6 record on the year with a 3.97 ERA and a 1.336 WHIP.

Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday has hit a home run off of Kendrick in his career, but he is just 2-for-18 overall against him with three strikeouts. First baseman Matt Adams is 4-for-8 against him with a double and an RBI.

Second-year starter Carlos Martinez made his first start of the season on Monday against the New York Mets and ended up with a no decision. He went four innings in that game and allowed one unearned run on two hits while walking four and striking out three. In 38.2 innings as both a reliever and as a starter, Martinez has a 4.19 ERA and he's only given up two home runs.

Only three of the Phillies has faced Martinez, with Reid Brignac being the only one with a hit against him.
