On Friday night, veteran starter A.J. Burnett will get the start for the Philadelphia Phillies when they go up against Jaime Garcia and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Right-hander A.J. Burnett went eight innings against the Chicago Cubs at home on Sunday, but he still ended up taking the loss. He allowed three runs on eight hits in that game while striking out four and walking no one. In 15 starts this season, Burnett is 4-6 and he has walked 4.1 batters per nine innings, which is his highest walk rate in five years.

Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter has a .429 batting average through 21 at-bats against Burnett with two doubles, two triples and an RBI. Matt Holliday and Jhonny Peralta have both hit a home run off of Burnett.

Left-hander Jaime Garcia picked up his third win in his sixth start of the season on Sunday when he beat the Washington Nationals at home. He went seven innings in that outing and allowed just one run on five hits while striking out six and walking two. He is now 3-0 this season with just 32 hits given up in 38.2 innings.

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has just three hits in 17 at-bats against Garcia wit one strikeout. John Mayberry, on the other hand, is 5-for-11 against him with three doubles, four RBI and just one strikeout.
