On Thursday, Kyle Kendrick (9-12) will try to win his fifth game in six starts for the Philadelphia Phillies when they go up against Robbie Erlin (3-4) and the San Diego Padres.

Kyle Kendrick picked up his ninth win of the year last Saturday by defeating the Miami Marlins at home. He pitched 6.1 innings in that start and allowed one run on seven base hits while walking one batter and striking out six. The right-hander now has a 4.72 ERA on the season and he has given up 9.7 hits per nine innings.

Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin has hit a home run off of Kendrick in his career, but he is just 1-for-12 overall against him with two strikeouts. Seth Smith is 8-for-17 against him with three doubles and a triple.

Left-hander Robbie Erlin hasn't made a start for the Padres since way back on May 17 when he picked up a win over the Colorado Rockies on the road. His last outing was last week when he gave up three runs in two innings of work to the Rockies. Erlin has a 4.89 ERA this season and has given up 56 hits in 49.2 innings.

Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard is no hits in his three at-bats against Erlin in his career with a no walks and two strikeouts. Outfielder Domonic Brown is 1-for-3 against him with a single and no strikeouts.
