Veteran right-hander Jerome Williams (3-1) will make his seventh start since joining the Philadelphia Phillies when they face Andrew Cashner (3-7) and the San Diego Padres on Monday.

Jerome Williams pitched five innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates last week and ended up taking the loss. He allowed four runs on seven base hits in that game and struck out a season-high eight batters while walking one. On the year, Williams now has a high 5.44 ERA and he has given up 110 hits in 94.1 innings of work.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith is just 2-for-13 against Williams in his career with a walk and three strikeouts. Abraham Almonte is 1-for-3 against him with no walks and no strikeouts.

Last Tuesday, Andrew Cashner pitched seven solid innings in his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road and was able to pick up the win. He gave up just two runs on nine hits in that start while striking out two batters and walking one. Through 16 starts, Cashner has a very good 2.40 ERA and he has only given up four home runs in 101.1 innings on the mound.

Phillies third baseman Cody Asche has one hit in two at-bats versus Cashner in his career with a walk and a solo home run. Veteran outfielder Marlon Byrd is hitless in four at-bats against him with three strikeouts.
