On Saturday afternoon, right-hander David Buchanan will go for his fifth win of the season when he and the Philadelphia Phillies face Edinson Volquez and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On Sunday, rookie David Buchanan had his three-game winning streak snapped when he was beaten by the Atlanta Braves in Philadelphia. He pitched five innings in that game and allowed three runs on five hits while walking a season-high five batters and striking out four. Through eight starts, Buchanan is 4-4 with a 4.86 ERA and he has struck out 31 batters in 46.1 innings.

All of the Pirates will be facing Buchanan for the first time on Saturday. Right-handed hitters have an .854 OPS against him so far this season.

Edinson Volquez was able to win his second game in a row and his sixth overall when he defeated the New York Mets last Sunday. He pitched six scoreless innings in that start and gave up eight hits while striking out seven batters and walking just one. Volquez has only given up 87 hits in 95 innings this season and he has struck out 63.

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has just one hit in his 12 at-bats against Volquez with a walk and three strikeouts. Marlon Byrd is 4-for-14 against him with five strikeouts. None of the Phillies have a hit a home run off of the right-hander yet.
