The Philadelphia Phillies will head to South Beach to play the Miami Marlins on Thursday. Cole Hamels will take the mound for the Phillies while the Marlins will send Henderson Alvarez to the hill in a National League matchup.

Cole Hamels is coming off his first win of the season when he faced the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. Hamels pitched seven strong innings and only gave up one run on three hits while striking out 10 and walking two. Hamels has gotten consistently better as the season has gone along after taking a loss in his first two games. He’ll look to make it two in a row on Thursday.

Current Miami players are hitting .252 against Hamels. Giancarlo Stanton is 8-for-35 with two doubles, a triple and two home runs against Hamels. However, he’s struck out 16 times.

Alvarez has struggled in his last two starts and most recently against the San Francisco Giants on Friday. Alvarez was lucky enough to get the no-decision while giving up four earned runs on 10 hits. Alvarez currently sits at 2-3 with a 3.62 ERA. Alvarez has been all over the map this season giving up 64 hits in 54.7 innings. He’ll look to get back on track against the Phillies. A team in which he hasn’t fared well against.

Current Philadelphia players are batting .340 when facing Alvarez. Alvarez has given up 17 hits on 50 at bats while surrendering four doubles, a home run and four RBI.
