Veteran A.J. Burnett will be on the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday when they face Anthony DeSclafani, who will be making his second big league start for the Miami Marlins.

In his ninth start, A.J. Burnett ended up losing for the third time this season when he was beaten by the Los Angeles Angels last Wednesday. He pitched five innings in that game and gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking five. He has a solid 3.13 ERA on the year, but he has walked 26 batters in 54.2 innings.

Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia has struggled against Burnett in his career, getting just one hit off of him in 12 at-bats with seven strikeouts. Derek Dietrich is the only player on the Marlins who has hit a home run off of Burnett.

24-year-old Anthony DeSclafani made his first Major League start last week against the Los Angeles Dodgers and ended up picking up the win. He was able to make it through six innings in the game and gave up just two runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking one. He did well with his command in that outing by throwing 66 of his 93 pitches for strikes.

The Phillies, who will be seeing DeSclafani for the first time, will be facing a 93-95 mph fastball, an 82 mph slider and an 81 mph curveball.
