Right-hander Kyle Kendrick (9-13), who is 2-2 in September with a 3.20 ERA, will make the start for the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night when they take on Brad Hand (3-8) and the Miami Marlins.

Kyle Kendrick pitched five innings against the San Diego Padres on the road last week and ended up taking the loss. He gave up three earned runs on six hits in that outing while walking five batters and striking out two. Kendrick now has a 4.73 ERA on the year and he has only been able to strike out 119 batters in 192 innings.

Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee has six hits in his 17 at-bats against Kendrick with a double, a home run and five RBI. Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is hitless in nine at-bats against him with no walks and four strikeouts.

Brad Hand lost his second start in a row last Thursday when he was beaten by the Washington Nationals at home. He gave up six runs (five earned) in five innings of work in that start and struck out four hitters while walking no one. Hand now has a 4.59 ERA on the year and he has given up 106 hits in 104 innings on the mound.

Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd has two hits in seven plate appearances against Hand with a double and an RBI. Second baseman Chase Utley is 3-for-12 against him in his career with no walks and two strikeouts.
