Cole Hamels (9-7), who has a 1.71 ERA in four starts this month, will be on the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies when they go up against Henderson Alvarez (11-6) and the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.

Last Wednesday, lefty Cole Hamels gave up just one run in seven innings of work against the San Diego Padres and picked up his ninth win of the year. He allowed seven base hits in that game and struck out nine batters while walking one. Hamels has struck out 187 batters in 189.2 innings this season and he currently has a 2.47 ERA.

Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee is 7-for-20 against Hamels in his career with a double, a home run and two RBI. Outfielder Christian Yelich is hitless in 10 at-bats against him with three walks and four strikeouts.

Henderson Alvarez continued his impressive season last Wednesday when he defeated the New York Mets on the road. In that game, he gave up two runs in six innings on the mound and struck out four batters while walking two. Alvarez has a 2.28 ERA this year and he has only walked 32 batters in 172.1 innings.

Phillies veteran second baseman Chase Utley is 7-for-16 against Alvarez in his career with two doubles and two RBI. Outfielder Ben Revere has one hit in 13 at-bats against him with a walk and two strikeouts.
