Veteran left-hander Cole Hamels will try to win his first game since back in early June on Wednesday night when he and the Philadelphia Phillies take on Tom Koehler and the Miami Marlins.

Cole Hamels pitched seven good innings against the Miami Marlins last week, but he only got a no decision out of it. Hamels allowed three runs in those seven innings of work and walked zero while striking out seven. Hamels might have a 2-4 record this season, but his 2.84 ERA suggests that he should have a lot more wins than that. He's also only given up 76 hits in 88.2 innings.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton has 12 hits in his 41 at-bats versus Hamels with two doubles, a triple and three home runs. Reed Johnson is just 2-for-12 against the lefty with three strikeouts.

Last Thursday, Tom Koehler went six innings against the Philadelphia Phillies and ended up having to settle for the no decision in a game the Phillies ended up winning 5-3. He gave up two runs on seven hits in that game while striking out six batters and walking no one. Through 16 starts, Koehler is 5-6 with a 3.70 ERA and he has only given up 81 hits in 97.1 innings pitched.

Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown has three hits in four at-bats against Koehler and he is the only player on his team who has hit a home run off of the right-hander.
