Cole Hamels will be wanting to notch his second win of the season on Friday night when the Philadelphia Phillies go up against Cincinnati Reds ace Johnny Cueto.

On Sunday, Cole Hamels pitched well against the New York Mets, but he ended up with a no decision and the Phillies ended up losing 4-3. He went seven strong innings in that outing and allowed one earned run on six hits while striking out eight and walking four. Hamels has a 4.01 ERA this season, which is higher than we're used to seeing from him, but his 3.22 FIP is the best he has had in three years.

Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips has struggled when facing Hamels in his career, getting just four hits in 30 at-bats with nine strikeouts. Ryan Ludwick and Jay Bruce both have hit two home runs off of the left-hander.

Johnny Cueto pitched 7.1 scoreless innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks last week and ended up picking up his fifth win of the season. He allowed just five hits in that game and struck out seven while walking one. Cueto has a league-leading 1.68 ERA through 12 starts and he has allowed just 48 hits in 91 innings of work.

Outfielder Marlon Byrd has gone up against Cueto 14 times in his career and has a .583 batting average with a double, a home run and three RBI.
