Two of the most disappointing teams from the 2013 Major League Baseball season were the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs. This Sunday they will be competing in the final game of their weekend series when A.J. Burnett gets the ball for the Phillies while Carlos Villanueva will take the mound for the Cubs.

Villanueva, the 30-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, will be taking the mound as the starter for the Cubs, something he has done 71 other times in his career. He has shown throughout his career that he is better out of the bullpen than in the rotation, but the Cubs will rely on him as the fifth starter to start the season. In his career against the current members of the Phillies, Villanueva has limited them to a .231 average with Jimmy Rollins claiming the only home run against him.

Burnett bounced back with the Pirates in 2012 and 2013 after a terrible run with the New York Yankees from 2009-2011. With Burnett the potential for strikeouts is always high and if he can pitch like he did last season, he will be a reliable starter once again and could help the Phillies turn their season around. The Cubs have had mixed success against Burnett with Starlin Castro (9-for-22) and Nate Schierholtz (5-for-10) doing exceptionally well while Anthony Rizzo (3-for-15) and Luis Valbueno (0-for-13) struggled greatly.
