On Sunday afternoon, second-year starter Sonny Gray (13-10) will try to snap his two-game losing streak when he and the Oakland Athletics face rookie Nick Martinez (5-11) and the Texas Rangers.

Sonny Gray pitched pretty well in his start against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. He gave up two runs (one earned) in seven innings of work that day while walking three batters and striking out a season-high 12. Gray has a 3.21 ERA on the year and he has struck out 178 batters in 210 innings.

In that start, he allowed just five base hits while striking out five and walking zero. The right-hander now has a 4.61 ERA this season and he has walked 3.7 batters per nine innings.

A's outfielder Coco Crisp is 2-for-5 against Martinez in his career with three walks, a double and an RBI. Infielder Alberto Callaspo is hitless in seven plate appearances against him with no walks and no strikeouts.
