All-Star Scott Kazmir will try to pick up his 12th win of the year when he and the Oakland Athletics face 23-year-old Miles Mikolas and the Texas Rangers on Sunday night.

Left-hander Scott Kazmir pitched well enough to get the win against the Houston Astros last week, but he had to settle for the no decision. He pitched seven innings in that start and gave up two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out six and walking one. Kazmir has an 11-3 record for the A's this year with an excellent 2.32 ERA and he has only given up 95 hits in 124.1 innings.

Rangers outfielder Alex Rios has just 10 hits against Kazmir in 46 at-bats with a home run and 11 strikeouts. Elvis Andrus hasn't been able to get an extra-base hit off of Kazmir yet, but he is 8-for-23 against him with a walk and an RBI.

Miles Mikolas made his fourth start of the year last week against the New York Yankees and was able to come away with his first win of the season. He pitched a season-high 7.1 innings in that start and gave up just two runs on four hits while striking out three and walking two. He is now 1-2 with a 7.48 ERA and he's given up 28 hits in 21.2 innings.

Athletics veteran Nick Punto is 0-for-1 against Mikolas in his career, while the rest of the A's will be seeing him for the first time.
