Sonny Gray will have a tough matchup on his hands when the Oakland Athletics take on Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez on Friday night.

Sonny Gray may be throwing his fastball a little slower than he did last season, but he was able to get the win in his last, which also happened to be against the Seattle Mariners. He was able to hold them to just one earned run over six solid innings of work in a game the Athletics ended up winning 6-3. Gray gave up three hits and struck out three in the win.

Shortstop Brad Miller has faced Gray the most on his team and has come away with three hits and one RBI in nine plate appearances. Justin Smoak has gotten just one hit and has struck out four times in six at-bats versus the right-hander.

Felix Hernandez is off to a fantastic start to the 2014 season by getting two wins in his first two starts. In his last outing, he faced these same Athletics and was able to go 8.1 innings in a dominant start. He struck out eight A's and gave up just six hits and one earned run in the win. He now has a sparkling 1.88 ERA on the young season and 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

Not too many hitters in the league have much success against King Felix, but Brandon Moss has been able to get seven hits off of him, including one home run, in 22 at-bats.
