On Saturday night, Jesse Chavez will be going for his eighth win of the season when he and the Oakland Athletics take on Hisashi Iwakuma and the Seattle Mariners.

Right-hander Jesse Chavez pitched six solid innings in his start against the San Francisco on Monday and came away with his seventh win of the year. He gave up no runs in that outing and tied his season-high in strikeouts with nine. Chavez has a 7-5 record through 18 starts and he has only given up a total of nine home runs in 109 innings of work.

Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano is 3-for-8 against Chavez in his career with a walk and an RBI. Third baseman Kyle Seager is hitless against him in five at-bats with three walks and two strikeouts.

Hisashi Iwakuma won his second consecutive game on Monday when he was able to defeat the Minnesota Twins at home. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that game and gave up just four hits while striking out a season-high 10 batters while walking no one. Iwakuma improved his record to 7-4 with that win and he now has 72 strikeouts in 88 innings.

A's All-Star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes seems to enjoy facing Iwakuma, going 8-for-18 against him in his career with four doubles and three home runs. Alberto Callaspo is just 2-for-15 against him with two strikeouts.
