Dan Straily (0-1) will go to the mound for the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night and will try to get the win over Mike Pelfrey (0-1) and the Minnesota Twins.

Dan Straily did pretty well against the Mariners in his first start of the season, striking out seven while giving up six hits and one walk in six innings. His problem, though, was the long ball. He gave up two home runs, which gave Seattle the runs they needed to pull off the win.

Oswaldo Arcia is the only hitter on the Minnesota Twins who has gotten a hit off of Straily in his career, but he has also struck out twice against him in three at-bats.

Mike Pelfrey, like Straily, had a problem giving up home runs in his first start, but he couldn't make it through six innings against the Cleveland Indians. He ended up giving up just just three hits over 5.1 innings, but two of those three hits were four-baggers. He struck out three and walked three in the loss.

Brandon Moss is one player on the Athletics who likes facing Pelfrey, getting four hits, including two doubles, in seven at-bats against the big righty. Sam Fuld has just one hit against him in six plate appearances. Center fielder Coco Crisp is the only player on the Oakland roster who has hit a home run off of Pelfrey in his career.
