Right-hander Jesse Chavez will be on the mound for the Oakland Athletics on Friday night and will be facing rookie Anthony DeSclafani and the Miami Marlins.

On Saturday, Jesse Chavez pitched seven scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox, but all he could get out of that start was a no decision. He gave up just three hits in that outing and walked four while striking out four. On the year, Chavez is 6-4 with a solid 2.71 ERA and he has 82 strikeouts in 93 innings of work.

Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee has just one hit in three at-bats against Chavez, but that one hit was a home run. None of the Marlins have faced the right-hander more than three times.

24-year-old Anthony DeSclafani had the shortest outing of his career on Sunday when he was beaten by the New York Mets at home. He went just 3.2 innings in that start and allowed a season-high seven earned runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out just one. Through four starts he has a 1-2 record and he has given up 26 hits in 21.1 innings.

All of the A's will be facing DeSclafani for the first time at the Major League level on Friday night. So far, left-handed hitters have hit .319 against him, while right-handed hitter have a .289 batting average against him.
