Scott Kazmir (14-6), who had his worst start of the year last time on the mound, will take the mound for the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon when they face Matt Shoemaker (13-4) and the Los Angeles Angels.

Scott Kazmir struggled throughout his outing against the Los Angeles Angels last week and ended up losing for the sixth time this season. He only made it through three innings in that start and allowed seven runs on 10 hits while striking out one and walking two. His ERA rose to 3.08 with that loss, but he has still only given up 138 hits in 158 innings this year.

Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton has six hits in 16 at-bats against Kazmir in his career with a double, two home runs and six RBI. First baseman Albert Pujols is 1-for-6 against the lefty with a walk and a strikeout.

Right-hander Matt Shoemaker was able to pick up his fourth consecutive win last Tuesday when he defeated the Miami Marlins at home. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that game and gave up just two hits while striking out six batters and walking two. Shoemaker has a 3.33 ERA this year and he has struck out 108 batters in 110.2 innings on the mound.

A's outfielder Brandon Moss is 0-for-1 against Shoemaker in his career with a strikeout. All of the other A's will be facing the right-hander for the first time on Sunday.
