On Wednesday, Scott Kazmir (13-4) will look to bounce back from one of his roughest starts of the year when he and the Oakland Athletics face off against Jason Vargas (8-5) and the Kansas City Royals.

Last Friday, Scott Kazmir was able to pick up the win against the Minnesota Twins despite giving up five earned runs in 6.2 innings. He allowed five hits in that outing and struck out four batters while walking one. He has a very good 2.73 ERA on the year now and he has only given up 7.4 hits per nine innings.

Royals infielder Omar Infante has five hits in his 16 at-bats against Kazmir with two doubles, a home run and five RBI. Outfielder Alex Gordon is just 6-for-28 against him with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Veteran Jason Vargas pitched five innings against the San Francisco Giants last week and ended up with a no decision. He allowed two runs on nine base hits in that game while striking out five and walking no one. He currently owns a 3.68 ERA on the season and he has only walked 1.9 batters per nine innings.

A's outfielder Coco Crisp has 14 hits in his 43 at-bats versus Vargas with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI. All-Star Josh Donaldson is just 1-for-20 against him with a home run and three strikeouts.
