Drew Pomeranz (5-4) will be making his first start for the Oakland Athletics since June when he goes up against Brad Peacock (3-8) and the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.

Drew Pomeranz last made a start for the A's back on June 16 when he gave up eight runs in 43.2 innings to the Texas Rangers and took the loss. Overall this season, he is 5-4 for the A's with a 2.91 ERA and he has struck out 48 batters in 55.2 innings. In the minors, he has 3-1 in eight starts with a 3.69 ERA.

Astros first baseman Jesus Guzman has one hit in five at-bats against Pomeranz in his career with a home run and three RBI. No other Houston player has faced him more than two times.

Right-hander Brad Peacock had a solid start against the Cleveland Indians last Friday and ended up with a no decision for his efforts. He went five innings in that start and allowed just one run on two base hits while striking out four batters and walking no one. Peacock has a 5.30 ERA on the year and he has walked 4.6 batters per nine innings.

A's All-Star Josh Donaldson is 4-for-12 against Peacock in his career with a double, a home run and two RBI. Brandon Moss is 2-for-11 against him with a walk and seven strikeouts.
