Jason Hammel (1-5) will try to win just his second game in eight starts for the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night when he goes up against Dallas Keuchel (10-9) and the Houston Astros.

Big right-hander Jason Hammel ended up losing to the Atlanta Braves on the road last week after only making it through three innings. He gave up five runs on six hits in that game while walking one batter and striking out two. He now has a 3.84 ERA on the season, but he has a 6.74 ERA in his seven starts for the A's.

Rookie first baseman Jon Singleton is 1-for-2 against Hammel in his career and he is the only player on the Astros with a home run against the right-hander.

Lefty Dallas Keuchel had a strong start against the New York Yankees on the road last week, but he ended up taking the loss after getting no runs from his offense. He pitched eight innings in that start and gave up three runs on seven base hits while striking out five batters and walking no one. Keuchel has a very solid 3.12 ERA this season and he has only walked 40 batters in 164.1 innings.

A's All-Star Josh Donaldson has five hits in 16 career at-bats against Keuchel with a double, a home run and two RBI. Josh Reddick is 1-for-11 against him in his career with a walk and two strikeouts.
