On Monday night, left-hander Scott Kazmir will try to bounce back from his worst outing of the year when he and the Oakland Athletics take on Anibal Sanchez and the Detroit Tigers.

Scott Kazmir had a tough time getting outs against the New York Mets last week and he ended up taking his third loss of the year. In that outing, he allowed a season-high seven earned runs on eight hits in just three innings while walking one and striking out four. Kazmir has been solid for the A's this season, though, with a 9-3 record and a 2.66 ERA.

Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler has struggled against Kazmir in his career, going just 4-for-33 against him with three strikeouts. Designated hitter Victor Martinez is 11-for-23 against him with three doubles, a home run and four RBI.

Veteran Anibal Sanchez won his third game in a row last week against the Texas Rangers on the road, but he didn't pitch particularly well in that outing. He went 5.1 innings in that game and allowed four runs on six hits while striking out five and walking one. On the year, Sanchez is 5-2 through 13 starts and he currently has a very good 2.64 ERA.

A's shortstop Jed Lowrie has just one hit in 13 at-bats against Sanchez with two walks and a strikeout. Veteran outfielder Coco Crisp is 3-for-10 against him with two doubles and a home run.
