On Sunday afternoon, Sonny Gray will be looking to improve to 5-1 when the Oakland Athletics face John Lackey and the Boston Red Sox.

Sonny Gray continued his scorching start to the season last Monday by picking up his fourth win of the season by shutting out the Texas Rangers. In his complete game, Gray gave up just three hits while striking out six and walking one. He now has a 1.76 ERA and is striking out 8.1 batters per nine innings this season.

None of the current Red Sox have faced Gray yet, but they can expect to see a fair helping of his 92-94 mph four-seam and two-seam fastballs and his highly-rated curveball.

John Lackey picked up his second straight win last Tuesday when he was able to pitch eight strong innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. In those eight innings of work, Lackey gave up just two runs on six hits and struck out five while walking just one. His ERA continues to dip and it is now at 3.83 on the season through six starts.

Lackey has done very well against A's outfielder Coco Crisp over the years by limiting him to just five hits in 33 at-bats, though two of those hits were home runs. Daric Barton has had a bit more luck against the veteran right-hander, going 9-for-27 with a home run and four RBI.
