Tommy Milone will have a tough task ahead of him when he and the Oakland Athletics take on Jon Lester and the Boston Red Sox.

Tommy Milone was saddled with his second loss of the season when he was defeated by the Houston Astros last Sunday. His 6.2 innings of work was the furthest he has gotten into a game so far this season, but he ended up giving up four runs on five hits while striking out just two and walking two. He now has a 4.56 ERA on the season through 23.2 innings.

Milone has done well against Mike Napoli in their matchups by holding him to just one hit in seven at-bats and striking him out three times. However, he hasn't fared as well against David Ortiz who has faced Milone three times and has hit two home runs off of him.

Jon Lester picked up his second straight loss when he gave up four earned runs against the Toronto Blue Jays last Sunday. He went seven innings in that game and Toronto got five hits off of him. Lester was able to strike out seven while walking none. His ERA is still a respectable 3.10 and he is striking out 9.5 hitters per nine innings on the season.

Coco Crisp and Derek Norris are the only hitters on the A's who have hit home runs off of Lester in their careers. Nick Punto is just 3-for-13 against the lefty and has been struck out three times.
