Dan Straily and Clay Buchholz will both be looking to pick up their second wins of the season when the Oakland Athletics play the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Both pitchers have struggled this season, but they have looked much better in recent outings.

Dan Straily picked up his third straight no decision last Saturday after going 6.1 innings against the Houston Astros. He gave up three runs in that outing on four hits while striking out seven and walking two. The home run ball has really hurt the right-hander this season, as he has already given up seven of them through 28 innings.

A.J. Pierzynski is hitting .375/.400/.875 versus Straily through 10 plate appearances. He has a home run, a double and four RBI against him.

Clay Buchholz was finally able to pick up his first win of the season when he beat the Toronto Blue Jays last Saturday. He pitched seven solid innings in that outing and gave up three earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking three. His ERA is still high at 6.66 and he is giving up 13.7 hits per nine innings on the year.

Alberto Callaspo has not been able to figure out Buchholz in their matchups, going just 4-for-20 against him. In 14 plate appearances, Daric Barton has four hits, four walks and four RBI against the 29-year-old right-hander.
