39-year-old Hiroki Kuroda (7-6) will take the mound for the New York Yankees on Wednesday night when they face Texas Rangers starter Colby Lewis (6-8), who has lost three consecutive starts.

Last Friday, Hiroki Kuroda pitched 5.2 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays and ended up picking up the win. He allowed four runs on eight hits in that game while striking out three batters and walking just one. Kuroda now has a 3.99 ERA on the season and his 6.2 strikeouts per nine innings is his lowest rate since his rookie year.

Rangers catcher J.P. Arencibia has faced Kuroda more than any of his teammates and is 9-for-24 against him with three doubles, a home run and two RBI. All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre is just 2-for-18 against him with four strikeouts.

Colby Lewis lost his third game in a row last Thursday against the New York Yankees, but he didn't pitch too poorly in that outing. He allowed three runs on four hits to the Yankees while walking three and striking out two. Lewis currently owns a 6.23 ERA and he has given up over 13 hits per nine innings this year.

Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has a .358 batting average in 53 at-bats against Lewis with a double, a triple and five RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury is just 1-for-10 against him with four walks and two strikeouts.
